The Noble Qur’an - Interpretation of Al-Qurtubi _ interpretation of the Almighty’s saying: {And a man shall pray for evil his supplication for good, and man was calfs} [Al-Isra / 11 || Interpretation of Al-Qurtubi and the jealousy of the interpreters

Al-Qurtubi and other commentators said:
 {And a person calls for evil his supplication for good. Ibn Abbas and others said: It is a man's supplication for himself and his son at boredom for what he does not like to be answered: God destroyed him, and the like. {His supplication for good} i.e. his supplication to his Lord to grant him wellness;

If God answered his supplication against himself with evil, he would perish, but thanks to him, he will not be answered in that. His counterpart: {And if God would hasten the evil people to hasten them with goodness} [Yunus: 11].

And it was said: It was revealed in al-Nadr ibn al-Harith. He used to pray and say: {O Allah, if this is the truth from you, then rain on us stones of the sky or our blood with painful punishment} [Al-Anfal: 32].

 And it was said: It is to supplicate in the request of the forbidden just as the supplication in the request of permissible,
{And man was calf} that is, from the nature of the person to hasten to pray for himself and hasten to pray for whatever comes to his mind, without considering its consequences.

And he said in Tahrir and Enlightenment: What is meant by his saying: {And man was calves} is a metaphor for his lack of insight, and that God knows best according to wisdom in the timing of things. Kindly of them in both cases.

One of the nature of man is haste and haste, as the Almighty said: “Man was created from a calf. What you think is evil, and God drives good through it.

So: You do not know the direction of goodness for what it is, so leave the matter to your Lord, the Almighty, and make your luck from your supplication not to be answered to what you have called, but to show your servitude to the glory of your Lord, glory be to Him. And what it means: {Supplicate for good ..} That is, a person calls for evil in urgency, as if he is praying for good. And you have to delegate to God Almighty and be satisfied with what He has granted and what He has forbidden, so He knows best about the interests of His servants and the outcome of matters. As God said: “Perhaps you hate something, and it is better for you, and hope that you love something and it is good for you.
